Ghaennat is limited to Khaf and Gonabad in North, to Ferdos and Sarayan in West, to Birjand and Darmian in South and has a  130 km border with Afghanistan in the East.

Read with Me project was implemented for 12 kindergartens and preschools and 350 children in the city and its surrounded villages. RWM project was started in Ghaennat by sending first book packages and holding the first workshop for teachers on 10-11 September, 2013. In the first workshop, RWM project, Children’s Literature, the importance and methods of Reading Aloud and Art Related Activities were introduced to teachers. Second book packages were sent in December and the second workshop was held on 23-24 January on the subjects of Living Values, Story Elements, Reading Aloud and Art Activities.

In May 2013 a simple practical Librarianship workshop was held in 9 preschools in this region. By sending the third book packages for all age-groups, these centers turned into small libraries which can be used by all children in rural areas during the summer. At the moment by following this project in 2014/15, 360 children in 12 kindergartens and preschools are covered by this project.

Overview

Ghaennat is in the East of Iran and the North of South Khorasan province. It is limited to Khaf and Gonabad from North, to Ferdos and Sarayan from West, to Birjand and Darmian from South and has a 130 km border with Afghanistan in the East. Its area is over 17722 km2 and its population is estimated about 147,798 people in 2011 census. Ghaennat has long summers and cold winters.

In February 2014 the experts of the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature, held supplementary workshops for the tutors including Learning Sounds, Learning Alphabet, Story Elements and Environment workshops. Also in summer 2015 a group of selected teachers and tutors of South Khorasan came to Tehran in two turns for a three-day camp and each group participated in RWM advanced workshops during their stay. On the first day, “Environment”, “Children’s Literature and Quality Books”, “Illustration in children’s books” and “Teaching Rhetoric Techniques” and “Reading Aloud” workshops were held for each group and on the second day advanced reading aloud workshops were held.
