Librarian workshop for the teachers of street-children centers

One of the trends of “Read with Me” project is to establish child-centered libraries in deprived regions, libraries with quality books and equipped with suitable shelves and tools. In the direction of establishing Mahmoudabad child-centered library, the experts of the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature held a librarian workshop for teachers of this center on Thursday June 25^th, 2015.

In the first part of the workshop, teachers became familiar with concept of library, types and concept of children library and its goals, activities of a librarian and what a librarian should know. Subsequently, library technical services in easy way, different parts of a book, organizing books (since cataloging to classification), preparing books to be placed in shelves before and after cataloging, methods of recruitment and borrowing books were also taught.

In the second part of the workshop, teachers became familiar with library space and arrangements, and methods of writing regulations for library. And in the practical part of workshop, teachers organized and placed books in shelves.

It is to be mentioned that teachers from Kousha center also participated in this workshop.
