Turan child-centered library, Another Read with Me Library in Isfahan
The association of children and adolescent literature lovers of Isfahan, in collaboration with Mother and Child Center of Naser Khosrow and the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature in Iran equipped Turan child-centered library.
Turan Library began its work in Mother and Child Center of Naser Khosrow in Isfahan since August 2017. The library was originally established with a number of donated books by Fund for Education & Empowerment of Working Children, an affiliated organization with the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature and several other philanthropists interested in children’s literature. The library was highly welcomed by children in the neighborhood afterwards and children frequented the place for borrowing books.
Since October 2017, library books and services have been reorganized in accordance with the principles of librarianship. All books were categorized with special color labels for age-groups and book-genres, stamped and recorded, and library cards were issued to the library members. On December, the association of children and adolescent literature lovers along with a group of volunteers designed Turan Library based on the principles of Read with Me child-centered libraries. In March 2017, a number of other books were donated by the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature.
Currently the library has 80 members. In addition to children, women who have recently learned how to read in the literacy courses of this center, are also eager to borrow books. Children’s interest in the library has increased recently, and a large number of people use the library every day.
