After the earthquake in Kermanshah Province in November 2012 and damages to various cities in the area, Yara Foundation announced its readiness to support the establishment of a child-centered library in the area. At the request of the teachers and facilitators of Qasr-e-Shirin, who had been covered by the “Read with Me” program before, the steps to set a child-centered library were planned by the “Read with Me” library committee. In collaboration with education authorities, a classroom was considered in Qasr-e-Shirin’s Adab school to establish the library in May 2018.
The space and layout of the library was designed by primary school teachers and librarian of Adab School.
The library has nearly 700 volumes of quality books and 100 volumes of book-related activities along with activity sheets. Each teacher at Adab School also receives a book display for their class. At the beginning of the academic year 2018-2019, these teachers will attend “Read with Me” workshops. Having learned the Reading Aloud techniques and the methods of sharing books with children, they will bring books to their classrooms.
