Read with Me is once again among the candidates for Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2020. This year, 237 authors, illustrators, reading promoters and storytellers from 68 countries have been nominated for this award. The 2020 ALMA laureate will be announced on 31 March 2020.

Who Nominated the Read with Me Program?

Among the 10 candidates from Iran, Read with Me is the only one nominated by one national and three international organizations. Children’s Book Council of Iran, International Literacy Association (ILA), Swiss Section of IBBY and the Flemish Branch of IBBY-Belgium, are organizations who have presented the Read with Me project as their nominee for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2020.

This is the fourth nomination of Read with Me for this award.

Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) is one of the world’s largest awards for children’s and young adult literature. The award was established by the Swedish government in 2002 to honor the Swedish children’s author Astrid Lindgren (1907–۲۰۰۲). The object of the award is to increase interest in children’s and young people’s literature, and to promote children’s rights to culture on a global level.
