Mahak Book-Reading volunteers getting to know reading aloud techniques
Young patients need special services.
The Fifth “Read with Me” workshop, this time was held to train volunteers for book-reading for sick children, on February 9th at the hospital. The workshop was held with the presence of 10 volunteers, some of them in charge of distributing books among children and the others in charge of reading books to children. Ms. Maryam Akhgari was the educative responsible of the group.
Topics such as importance of book and book reading, holding a successful Reading Aloud session, Reading Aloud methods, motivation and importance of work were discussed in this workshop.
In the workshop, volunteers expressed their problems in Regarding Books for children in hospital. Hospital regulations, inadequate space, different gender and age group of children were the problems volunteers were faced.
The “Read with Me” project with the motto of “all children have the right to read quality books”, attempts to deliver books to sick children. Reading books for sick children and in the hospital conditions, requires special skills which those who are dealing with sick children should learn.
