Jabbar Baghtcheban Award has been founded by the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature of Iran (IRHCLI), and the financial and cultural support of Azarestan Construction Co.
Jabbar Baghtcheban Award represents the experiences and beliefs of IRHCLI in modelling great people and their activities in improving the culture of Iran’s children. In mythology and history, we can find great figures whose names and memories can be the best role model and motivation for teachers and promoters who want better futures for children.
One of these figures is Jabbar Baghtcheban who among others, established modern education in Iran.
To commemorate his activities, IRHCLI founded the Jabbar Baghtcheban Award for reading promotion and improve basic literacy. The winners of this award are selected among promoters, teachers and librarians of the Read with Me program who have been able to add depth and meaning to this program through their creative endeavors. A statue of Jabbar Baghtcheban as well as a prize money is given to the winners.
Azarestan Construction Co., supporter and friend of the Read with Me program, has accepted to financially support this award and tries to set an example for all industrial organizations to cooperate in cultural programs.
The first Jabbar Baghtcheban Award was awarded to 10 promoters during the first Read with Me Conference in November 2016.
The second Jabbar Baghtcheban Award was awarded to 13 promoters from remote areas of Iran at the second Read with Me Conference in November 2018.
Since the past two award winners were announced on the National Book Day, in 2020, Read with Me published the name of 12 selected promoters as winners of the Jabbar Baghtcheban Award.
