The event went on for two weeks in Bonn and during this time, Käpt’n Book was present with his captain uniform in different places like libraries, theaters and museums among the children where he opened his suitcase which was filled with books and read books for children, played with them, took pictures and answered their questions. The character is adopted from Captain James Cook, British navigator who explored Australia. The purpose of this festival is to make children interested in books and reading and all the events are designed to encourage children to an active participation. Children are encouraged to look, listen, read, draw, explore and increase their creativity and return home with ineffaceable memories.
