Appreciating Teachers in Read with Me Final Meeting in Zabol and Zahedan
On 8-9 May 2016, Read with Me Final Meeting was held in Zabol and Zahedan. On these days in two separate ceremonies teachers and tutors implementing Read with Me project in these regions were appreciated. In academic year of 2015/16 Read with Me project was implemented in Zahedan and Zabol by the institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature (IRHCL) and cooperation of Yavari Cultural Community and Omran Azarestan Company and teachers and tutors were trained in “Knowing Children’s literature”, “Reading Aloud”, “Learning Sounds”, “Learning Alphabet” and “Living Values” workshops.
At the end of this year RWM experts evaluated teachers and tutors based on their attendance in workshops, reporting their activities, innovative and creative activities and they distributed their Read with Me Certificate based on these evaluation.
In the Final Meeting in Zahedan, on 8 May, in presence of Sistan and Balouchestn Education Office authorities and RWM experts, some students from Nomad schools and their teachers performed two songs from “Learning Alphabet” Book and one song from “Learning Sounds” Book and read aloud the book “What & What & What, An Infant”. Gifts were given to these children by IRHCL and the province’s Education Office.
In this ceremony Mr. Nakhai, the Head of Sistan and Balouchestn Education Office, valued RWM project and he mentioned enormous changes in schools’ atmosphere after implementing the project. “Children can learn best when they are happy,” he mentioned and wished the project’s development in everywhere.
Ms. Armin, the project responsible in the province, thanked teachers, authorities and benefactors for their cooperation; she congratulated Ibby‑Asahi Book Promotion Award 2016 and briefly explained the effects of Read with Me on training inquisitive, creative and social children who think critically and share duties together. Two teacher and two principals talked about their experiences and finally the certificates were given to teachers.
Zobol’ Final Meeting was held on 9 May. In this ceremony some teachers and principals and a child in “Happiness and Hope for the Future” project (book-reading for children suffering from Thalassemia and Hemophilia in hospitals) talked about their memorable experiences and effects of the project. In this meeting a play was performed based on the book “The Giving Tree” by children in third grade of elementary school.
Ms. Armin and Ms. Moghaddam appreciated teachers, authorities and benefactors and after giving some explanation on the evaluation process, they distributed teachers and tutors’ certificates.
