A Pure Experience of reading with children in Sazvar Sazeh Azarestan at the threshold of New Year

After a year and a half of Read with Me experts’ continuous efforts for book promotion in Sazvar Sazeh Azarestan Company by the comprehensive supports of this company’s authorities, now -at the threshold of the new year- we can announce good news to book lovers that a library with more than 3000 quality books is held in this company and through all corridors –specially corridors toward the lunchroom where hundreds of workers pass daily- there are signs and posters which lead them toward the library and by beautiful mottoes they encourage the workers to read with their children. Also the librarians report that this library has more than 140 active members who take a book bag for their children once in two weeks and read with them.

Upon the statistics since the beginning of this winter more than 2600 books have been borrowed by workers in production lines: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, maintenance, storehouse, part production, kitchen, Quality Control, office and security sections. All these data reveal that if we make quality books available to families and work on book promotion, love for reading will be created in every member of the family and even if the family dad is tired when he gets home from of daily work, he dedicates a part of his time to book reading with his children in order to tighten the emotional relations between family members. The families in Sazvar Sazeh Azarestan finish year 1394 while this one year and half old sapling is covered with colorful blossoms and it has brought fresh air into the company.

Sazvar Sazeh Azarestan Company is located in ShamsAbad Industrial City 40 km far from Tehran on Tehran-Qom Highway. Since autumn 2014, the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature by the financial support of the company authorities has implemented the Read with Me project for families of workers and employees in the factory. This experience is a distinct experience among RWM experiences where families are directly involved in book reading programs. At the moment in this company, a library of quality books has been held for children, adolescents and their parents where all workers and employees can choose and borrow books by the guidance of librarians and experts for their children.

The workers come to the library on break times (9:00 AM, 12:00 AM and 03:00 PM) to choose and borrow books. In some cases, the workers ask the librarians to choose books for them and they come to take their book bags after the lunch break.

This year like the past year, by the financial supports of Sazvar Sazeh Azarestan authorities, in the final week of the Iranian year, book bags are presented to children and their families along with a Childhood Calendar (Reading, Child and Environment) as Nowrouz (Iranian new year) gifts. Also at the final days of the year, a Haft-Seen (a Nowrouz traditional tabletop arrangement of seven symbolic items starting with S) is laid in this library. Beside this traditional Haft-Seen, seven books for different age groups (the book names are started with S) are put on the table, so Read with Me partners welcome the new year with a special Book Reading Haft-seen.
