The closing ceremony of Read with Me summer plan in Javad-ol-Aemme library in Ghaen
Benefiting quality books, children in ValiAsr town in Ghaen, passed a more joyful summer.
The closing ceremony for Read with Me summer plan in Javad-ol-Aemme library in Ghaen was held on 21 September 2015. According to Nasim Ghaen news website, in this ceremony Madadi, the Town Libraries chief, was also present, Read with Me project and its goals were introduced and the tutors implementing this project were appropriated.
In April 2015 two tutors who were chosen in Read with Me project implementation in South Khorasan, who had attended RWM workshops and successfully implemented the project in their schools and kindergartens, were asked to add Javad-ol-Aemme public library in ValiAsr town into RWM plan. Hence, after equipping this library with quality books by the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature and by the supports of Yavari Cultural Community, by the efforts of these two tutors about 100 children (3-13 years old) were covered by the project in summer.
As reported by tutors and authorities of Javad-ol-Aemme library, after implementing the RWM project, some behavior disorders in children were decreased and their presence in library and taking part in related activities were increased. After implementing the project during the summer, now there are more and more children coming to the library from other districts and every day new children join the RWM project.
By the efforts of the tutors in charge of the project, in this three-month program different books for different age-groups have been read aloud such as “I ran and ran”, “The Tales of Wise Rabbit”, “Little Blue”, Palm Tree and Goat Legend” and “Something From Nothing” were read aloud and related activities such as painting, theater, making masks and dialogues with children were done. The value of cultural heritage, environment and recycling were considered in these activities.
Read with Me project was started since 2013 for 350 children in 12 kindergartens and preschools the city of Ghaen and its surrounded villages. In May 2013 by holding a simple practical librarianship workshop for 9 preschools in this region, they turned into small libraries which can be used by all children who live in rural areas in the summer. At the moment by following this project in 2014/15, 360 children in 12 kindergartens and preschools are covered by this project.
