Establishing Little Summer Libraries of Read with Me
This summer, the Read with Me experts have decided to send book packages and establish little summer libraries in areas such as Sistan & Balouchestan, Kouhdasht, suburbs of Isfahan and suburbs of Tehran for children that had been covered by the RWM program throughout the previous school year.
According to the PR Department of RWM, in the last visit of RWM experts on May 2017 a number of teachers declared their willingness for opening their schools during summer for a few days a week to allow children to read and borrow books from the library. Due to a lack of entertainment facilities in these areas, children don’t normally have appropriate places to spend their free summer time in. Hence, the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature has arranged little summer libraries in these areas by sending book packages for all age groups in order to fulfill children’s needs and requests.
The institutes engaged in establishing little summer libraries and providing quality books for the children of these areas are ITPCo. (Entesharat Fanni Iran), Hoopa Publication, IRCHLI and Fund for Education & Empowerment of Working Children.
In the course of implementing this project, children and adolescents who have been introduced to children’s literature and methods of Reading Aloud in the past year will come to help their teachers in keeping their little summer libraries active in schools, mosques and even in their homes throughout the summer. At the end of summer, all books will be collected and kept in the class libraries of schools so that students can read them in the upcoming academic year.
The RWM experts are grateful for the cooperation of ITPCo. (Entesharat Fanni Iran) and Hoopa Publication in this project and wish a colorful and joyous summer for these children.
