Read with Me Project in Kermanshah Province
The “Read with Me” program began its activity in Kermanshah province in Qasr-e-Shirin schools in 2016 and covered 600 children from the first to sixth grades with the support of Ms. Parvin Eskandari, a Read with Me expert and sponsor. In this way, 19 educators were trained in Qasre-e-Shirin school by “Read with Me” experts in 2016-2017. They held Reading Aloud sessions and its book-related activities with children.
In 2017 by equipping four rural libraries in Kermanshah region, in cooperation with Hami and Wafa Associations another stage of the program was started in Kermanshah province. Librarians, after receiving quality books, participated in workshops and are now organizing Reading Aloud sessions for children.
After the earthquake in November 21, 2017, “Read with Me” experts and co-workers helped the earthquake-affected areas and started Reading Aloud and Bibliotherapy programs with the children in trauma. By launching a child-centered library in a 36 M2 Conex in Sarpol-e-Zahab in collaboration with the Supportive Education Center of MahmoudAbad in ShahreRey and the contribution of benefactors, Hoopa Publishers, Iran’s Technical Publications, Dibayeh Publications, and the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature attempt to create a safe, tranquil and dynamic shelter for children in the region. “Read with Me” trainers also traveled to the area to train these volunteers for reading, performing book-related activities and managing libraries.
