Twenty Schools in Sirjan joined the Read with Me project
In November 2015 twenty elementary schools and two high schools joined Read with Me project by the financial support of Meraj Andisheh Sirjan Cultural Institute and Sirjan Education Office. By starting the program the experts from the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature held the first series of RWM workshops on 4-5 November for 25 teachers and nurturing assistants from 11 Girls Elementary schools, 9 boys Elementary schools and 2 girls high schools in Meraj Andisheh Sirjan Cultural Institute affiliated to Golgohar Mining & Industrial Company.
In the first workshop, trainees got to know the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature as the Read with Me project executive and the project’s features, Children’s Literature definition and the quality books characteristics.
The workshop on knowing Story elements in children’s books and the theoretical and practical method of sharing these kind of books with children was another part of the first day workshops and following it Reading aloud and its methods in theory and practice was explained while trainers read aloud some selected books for trainees.
RWM trainers also described documentation method and its importance in a Book Reading project and the correct way of preparing reports and pictures for teachers and trainers.
The final workshop of the first day was Mask Making workshop for dramatic art activities related too books. At the end of the day book bags, handbooks and brochures were distributed between the teachers.
The workshops were continued on second day by holding Dramatic Art Related Activities workshop where trainers practically learned how to make hand puppets, a scene for the play upon the book story and performing the play.
Mr. IranNejad, the founder of Meraj Andisheh Sirjan Cultural Institute, Mr. Yahyapour, Head of Sirjan Education Office and Mr. Naghavi, Elementary School Nurturing Supervisor in Sirjan Education Office also visited these workshops and met read with Me and its trainers personally.
Upon the agreement between the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature and Meraj Andisheh Sirjan Cultural Institute, in current academic year more than 1870 children in first to third grade of elementary school in Sirjan are covered by Read with Me project.
